It is everyone’s desire that all children have a happy Christmas, and many folks in our area are experiencing hard economic times. For the past eight years, the Pea Ridge Area Ministerial Alliance has put together the Pea Ridge community’s Angel Tree. Again this year, the Angle Tree will be set up in City Hall. Paper angels will tell a child’s age, gender, size and a gift idea. All other information is kept confidential. The angels are selected by people who will bring gifts which the Alliance will deliver.

A 15-year-old boy is out of school for the remainder of the school year following an expulsion hearing by the Pea Ridge School Board Thursday night. The eighth-grade student was expelled following an open expulsion hearing, as requested by his guardian. The Oct. 30 meeting lasted 11 minutes. The young man was arrested Oct. 23 following an investigation by both school and police officials into three bomb threats at Pea Ridge Middle School. He is accused of being the perpetrator of the last two threats, both of which were discovered on Tuesday, Oct. 21. The first was discovered mid-morning Wednesday, Oct. 15. He was taken to Benton County Juvenile Detention Center. On Oct. 27, he was charged with communicating a false alarm, a Class D felony.

Pea Ridge High School boys cross country runners took third in conference this past weekend with 71 points. The high school girls’ cross country team placed first at this same conference meet. Both the Pea Ridge High School boys and girls cross country teams will compete at state this weekend in Hot Springs at Oakland Park.
