TIMES photographs by Annette Beard Becki Sams and Magic Man came in first in the adult division of the barrel race with a time of 18.37. Sams, of Vinita, Okla., and her daughter, Maranda Stites of Pea Ridge, were top competitors in the speed events with Stites coming in second on Roster with a time of 18.66 in the barrel race.

Maranda Stites and Rooster were making great time in the pole bending until a penalty for downed pole cost them the win. Stites, of Pea Ridge, came in first in the flag race and second in the barrel race.

Les Clancy and Oaklie came in so fast in one speed event that he lost his hat. Clancy won second in the flag race with a time of 13.69 behind Rooster and Maranda States who had a time of 10.63.
