Hawks defeat Pioneers

Seven young ladies, all seniors at Pea Ridge High School, were elected by the senior class to represent the school as Colors Day maids for 2020. The Colors Day queen will be named in a ceremony Friday night before the basketball games in Blackhawk Gym.

The Colors Day maids are Samantha Bott, Shae Gilbertson, Riley Heston, Dannie Hu, Ashlyn Humphrey, Kadense McDonald and Kailyn Shackelfor­d.

Samantha Bott

Samantha Bott, 17, is the daughter of Jeremy and Christine Bott. She is the granddaugh­ter of Joe and Laurie Bott of Springdale.

She will be escorted by Brandon Whatley.

In Pea Ridge since fourth grade, Miss Bott likes to draw, sing, work out, play basketball and shop online. Her favorite subject in school is science.

She is a member of the Student Council, Science Club, and outside of school, she leads worship at Keypoint Church.

After graduation, she plans to attend the University of Central Arkansas to study Biology and eventually go to Physician Assistant school.

Shae Gilbertson

Shae Gilbertson, 18, is the daughter of Melissa and Lance Gilbertson and granddaugh­ter of Dixie and the late Bill Trotter of

Pea Ridge, Lillian Clarkson and Jim Gilbertson, both of Rogers.

She will be escorted by Mazon Harris.

She is a life-long resident of Pea Ridge.

Her favorite school subject is English. Miss Gilbertson enjoys spending time with friends and family, obsessing over her dog, working out and spending too much money at Seven Brew.

She is a member of the National Honor Society, Gifted and Talented, DECA, and volunteers with Special Olympics.

She plans to attend college, but is undecided where.

Riley Heston

Riley Heston, 17, is the daughter of Ashli Brown and James Carrington. She is the granddaugh­ter of Gale Crim and Dixie Crim of Pierce City, Mo.

She will be escorted by

David Snarr.

She has lived in Pea Ridge for five years.

Her favorite subject in school is math.

Miss Heston enjoys Nintendo, tanning and working out.

She is a member of FCCLA and the National Honor Society.

After graduation, she plans to attend college and become an ultrasound technician.

Dan Hu

Dannie Hu, 18, is the daughter of Qiu Hua Hu (Mr. Hu) and Ling Yang (Mrs. Yang). She is the granddaugh­ter of Mr. Yang and Mrs. u.

She will be escorted by Adam Trammel.

She has lived in Pea Ridge for five years.

Her favorite subject in school is math.

Miss Hu enjoys reading, running and shopping.

She is a member of the

Science Club, the Cross country varsity team, the Track and Field varsity team and is a volunteer at the Pea Ridge Community Library.

She plans to attend college to earn a degree in mechanical engineerin­g.

Ashlyn Humphrey

Ashlyn Humphrey, 18, is the daughter of Tony Humphrey and Mandy Coberley. She is the granddaugh­ter of Kathy and Jim Dawson of Ashboro, N.C.

She will be escorted by Noah Peterson.

She has lived in Pea Ridge her entire life.

Her favorite subject in school is history.

Miss Humphrey enjoys playing volleyball, hanging out with friends, obsessing over her dog and listening to music.

She is a member of the National Honor Society, Little Hawks volleyball camp coach and volunteer for Special Olympics.

She plans to attend college, get a bachelor’s degree in physical therapy and eventually be a pediatric physical therapist specializi­ng in oncology.

Kadense McDonald

Kadense McDonald, 17, is the daughter of Matthew and Talina McDonald. She is the granddaugh­ter of Huey Kennedy of Washburn, Mo.

She will be escorted by Braydon Smith.

She is a life-long resident of Pea Ridge.

Her favorite school subject is English.

Miss McDonald enjoys thrift shopping and hanging out with the cheer squad.

She is a cheerleade­r.

She plans to attend college and earn a masters degree in early education.

Kailyn Shackelfor­d

Kailyn Shackelfor­d, 17, is the daughter of Jason and Rica Shackelfor­d. She is the granddaugh­ter of Elizabeth Bertschy, Pea Ridge, and Philip and Joyce Shackelfor­d of Pineville, Mo.

She will be escorted by Hunter Rains.

She has lived in Pea Ridge her entire life.

Her favorite subject in school are Mrs. Rickard’s classes.

Miss Shackelfor­d has played volleyball for six years and enjoys spending time with her family and friends.

She is a member of the National Honors Society, volunteers with Special Olympics, and helps with the Little Hawks Volleyball camps.

She plans to attend the University of ArkansasFo­rt Smith and major in office management technology.
