Pea Ridge Blackhawks 57, Gentry Pioneers 26

The Hawks broke out ahead early on, fought to a draw in the seond quarter, but exploded for 29 points in the third quarter to put the game out of reach early. The Hawks would score over half their points in one period, one of their best offensive quarters in school history.

The Hawks forged ahead in the first quarter on a bucket and trey by junior Korbyn Mobley, a 3-pointer by senior David Andrus, and single scores by sophomore Bric Cates and senior Malik Bagsby. The held the Pioneers to just 5 points as Pea Ridge led 12-5 after one.

The two rivals fought on equal terms in the second period, with each team adding 6 points to their totals. Andrus did most of the damage with a pair of field goals with Bagsby adding another. The Hawks led at the half, 18-11.

The closely fought first half game turned into a rout in the third quarter with the Hawks pouring in the points, led by Bagsby. Bagsby scored six times, dropping in a pair of treys, two buckets and two free throws for 12 points. Mobley was active hitting a pair of field goals along with a 3-pointer. Senior Joe Adams, Cates, seniors Mac Bowen and Samual Tillman scored from the floor with Andrus ripping two of two free throws. The Pioneers scored but 7 points as the Hawks built a huge lead at 47-18.

The Hawks dropped in five more goals in the final quarter with Mobley hitting one, along with Bowen and junior Will Anderson. Senior Jake Ingram was a double scorer with two shots from the field. The Pioneers would go on to score 8 points in the period to make the final count 57-26.

Nine Hawks got into the scoring column led by Bagsby’s 16 points. Mobley was right behind with 14, followed by Andrus 9, Cates 4, Bowen 4, Ingram 4, Anderson 2, Adams 2 and Tillman 2.

Pea Ridge Lady Blackhawks 52, Gentry Lady Pioneers 40

The Lady Blackhawks defeated the Lady Pioneers when the Lady Hawks from Pea Ridge went to Gentry for the challenge, as the Gentry girls let their lead slip away in the final quarter for a 52-40 loss on Friday night.
