Millions of dollars in scholarships presented
More than $3 million in scholarships were presented to graduating seniors from Pea Ridge High School Thursday, May 11, during the Scholarship Awards Ceremony in the Blackhawk Performing Arts Center, PRHS.
There were $89,250 in local scholarships, $225,000 in military awards, $80, in Arkansas Governor’s Distinguished Solarships, $1,438,596 in Arkansa Academic Challenge Scholarships and Grants and $1,389,735 in university scholarships over four years.
Master of Ceremonies Jessica Thomas, scholarship coordinator, introduced superintendent Keith Martin for the welcome. High School principal Leonard Ogden commended the students on their hard work and success.
The Pledge of Allegience to the American flag was led by senior Madison McDonald.
The keynote speaker was Emily Beck, a former PRHS student.
