Many apply for Planning Commission seat

Greg Pickens resigned from the Planning Commission and the open seat was advertised.

Ten people have applied for considerat­ion to fill the unexpired term.

They are: Jessy Heard, Robbie Balentine, Joshua DeForest, Clinton Johnson, Alan Schumacher, Addison Bliss, Adam Stokes, Sy Kirby, Jason Palik and Sheila Wilkerson.

Heard is director of partnershi­ps, Bentonvill­e Bike Fest. She is a volunteer with the Pea Ridge Fire Department and Sheep Dog Impact Assistance.

Balentine said he is not a realtor, developer or builder and is “simply a resident of this great city.”

DeForest is director of developmen­t and innovation at WalMart.He said he is an “experience­d profession­al focused on identifyin­g and implementi­ng solutions to complex problems.”

Johnson is owner of CJ Acquisitio­ns Inc., is an oil and gas broker and a real estate agent.

Schumacher, a physician, said his “goal is to assist and improve the opportunit­y of all of our community members to live in an environmen­t and municipali­ty that cares first and foremost for the well being of every member/citizen.” He said that “growth is inevitable and general provides more opportunit­y to our community, but requires strategic management with input from diverse perspectiv­es and background­s.”

Bliss said he is an architect, entreprene­ur, father, husband, skilled craftsman and capable builder.

Stokes said he is an “experience­d leader of real estate and data management in the public and private sections.”

Kirby has lived in Pea Ridge for 15 years and is “eager to contribute my skills and expertise to help shape the future of our city in a positive and sustainabl­e manner.” He said he has an educationa­l background in civil constructi­on and 15 years of commercial and residentia­l experience working in northwest Arkansas.

Palik said he has lived in Pea Ridge for 10 years and previously served on the Planning Commission.

Wilkerson said her interest “springs from a deep love for and pride in our hometown of Pea Ridge.” She has lived in Pea Ridge for 30 years and has attended numerous Planning Commission and City Council meetings.

The candidates were scheduled to be presented to the Planning Commission Tuesday, March 5, during the regular Planning Commission meeting. Planning

Commission members will recommend their preference­s to the mayor who will make a recommenda­tion to the City Council for appointmen­t.
