It’s hard to believe that it’s already April. It’s also hard to believe that it’s been a year since I took over as library director. I love our community and our library. March a was very busy month, and it was so nice to see everyone who joined us for our many programs.

We held a Community Egg Hunt that was well received by the community and our local businesses. It was successful and something that we will plan on next year!

I would like to thank all the businesses who supported us either by donating prizes and/or hiding the eggs for the community to find. Those businesses are Walmart Neighborhood Market, F.L. Davis Ace, Ember Mountain, Dye Hards, The Ridge Salon & Boutique, Maggie’s Salon, It’ll Do Brew, Oak View Animal Clinic, Thread Slingers, Simple Simons, Arvest Bank and The Friends of the Pea Ridge Public Library.

We have recently started a Seed Library. It offers free seeds to members of community. It is also a place where you can donate extra seeds if you have any. We have already had many community members take advantage of this amazing resource.

National Library Week is April 7-13. Stop in the library that week, say hello and enter our drawing for a gift basket giveaway. National Library Workers Day is April 9. Please know that we love what we do and love doing it for all of you.

April is also National Poetry Month. To celebrate we are featuring a poetry contest to coincide with Taylor Swift’s new album release, “The Tortured Poets Department,” later this month. There are some amazing prizes for the winner. All you have to do is submit a poem in the style of a Taylor Swift song either through our email, pearidgelibrary@cityofpearidge.com, or in-person at the library. Submissions close on April 20 with the winner being announced on April 30. Good luck!
