After finding love again with the Discovery host, the Flip or Flop star gets married in a surprise at-home ceremony

Most of Christina El Moussa and Ant Anstead’s friends and relatives thought they were gathering at the couple’s Newport Beach, Calif., home to watch a boat parade. But on Dec. 22, when they arrived to see rows of white chairs neatly arranged in the front yard and rose petals leading to an elegant floral arch, the 70 guests began to buzz with excitement. Anstead, 39, slipped into place next to the pastor, cheekily quipping “Got ya!” to the crowd. As the band began to play “Stand by Me,” a beaming El Moussa, 35, made her way down the aisle, joining her husband-to-be. “Surprise!” she exclaimed. “We’re getting married!”

Plans for the couple’s secret nuptials began nearly three months ago after Anstead proposed to the star of HGTV’S Flip or Flop on the California beach with champagne and a diamond ring. “We had an engagement,” he says. “We just didn’t tell anyone.” Only a few family members knew about their wedding in advance. “It’s different for us now,” says El Moussa. “We didn’t want all the fuss. Just a quiet wedding without all the drama and paparazzi.”

And for good reason. El Moussa’s messy split from ex-husband and show partner Tarek made her a tabloid fixture in 2016. “It was a crazy couple of years,” she says. She met the English-born Anstead (full first name: Anthony), who hosts Wheeler Dealers on Discovery’s Motortrend Network, in November 2017. “It’s like my life did a 180,” she says. Anstead, who split from ex-wife Louise in July 2017, couldn’t agree more. “We’ve both had challenges, but ever since we met it’s just been an instant connection.” Their blended family took a central role in their big day. El Moussa shares daughter Taylor, 8, and son Brayden, 3, with Tarek, 37, while Anstead is father to daughter Amelie, 15, and son Archie, 12, with his ex. “It’s the six of us,” says Anstead. “So it was really important for them to be a part of it.” Taylor was the flower girl, Archie was the ring bearer, and Amelie walked with Brayden down the aisle.

El Moussa, who’s changing her last name to Anstead, and her husband are looking forward to their honeymoon in Bora Bora—and feeling very blessed. “I am incredibly grateful to have met her,” says Anstead. “She saved me .” adds elm oussa :“we saved each other.” •

HER ROMANTIC WEDDING LOOKEl Moussa’s Ines Di Santo dress featured a low back with buttons and detachable sleeves. She paired the gown she calls “classic and beautiful” with Sergio Rossi crystal puzzle heels and carried a bouquet of peonies. The couple’s rings were designed by Randall Scott Fine Jewelry, with her emerald-cut eternity band totaling 8.5 carats.A Labor of LoveEl Moussa’s longtime friend and publicist Cassie Zebisch (above) planned the couple’s surprise nuptials. “I was so happy to do this for them,” she says. “They are true soulmates.”
