This Is Us’s Chris Sullivan

The actor, 38, stars as expectant dad Toby on NBC’S hit series.

What do you find most endearing about Toby?

I love how honest and vulnerable he’s becoming. Sharing his flaws is tricky business.

Do fans approach you now?

Yeah, people want to say how they connect with the show. I’ve had a lot of interactions about depression and the male perspective on miscarriage. Have you ever experienced depression, like Toby?

I’ve experienced it on a smaller scale. I think we all have, if we’re honest with ourselves.

What’s life like off-set?

I’m up early—yoga, time spent on the beach with my wife [Rachel Reichard].

Any hints on what’s next for

This Is Us?

A safe bet is that no matter what happens, you’ll relate to it.
