Nicole Miller has a case of the blues with her new denim collection; and more!

Nicole Miller puts her own spin on a wardrobe staple.

- By Kristin Detterline

You know Nicole Miller for the figure-skimming cocktail dresses, billowy blouses and beach- chic resort looks, but it’s worth getting to know the designer’s denim collection. Launched earlier this year thanks to a design collab with Alpha Garment Inc., fall brings a slew of styles including high-rise cuts, cropped hems, boyfriend jeans, fl ares and skinnies. It was a natural complement to Miller’s contemporary womenswear label, she says. “We had always dabbled in denim and novelty denim, and it had always received a great response, so I felt it was time to do a complete collection and give my customer more options,” says the designer. With most closets already stocked with skinny jeans, Miller says to try camouflage denim and baggier, distressed styles to pair with her fall separates like cheetah-print buttondowns and open-back velvet blouses. And like the rest of us, Miller admits that it’s difficult to part with a pair. “I have a hard time editing my denim wardrobe,” she says. “Denim only gets better with age.” From $198, The Bellevue; 4249 Main St.; nicolemiller.com
