Amanda S.F. Hartle, director of communicat­ions at North Hills Community Outreach, has been hired as communicat­ions coordinato­r.

Ms. Hartle of Hampton has more than six years of communicat­ions and media experience, including public relations officer of the Moon Area School District and as a staff writer with Gateway Newspapers.

She also writes for the PSBA Bulletin — the Pennsylvan­ia School Board Associatio­n’s magazine — and volunteers as a media and communicat­ions consultant for the Remi Savioz Glut 1 Foundation.

She fills the position vacated by Tina Vojtko, who has joined the Quaker Valley School District. Ms. Hartle will join the district July 25 at a starting salary of $ 55,900.

The district is offering an AP Summer Camp for incoming juniors and seniors from 9 to 11 a.m. Aug. 6-9, in the senior high school, Rochester Road, Ross.

The camp will introduce incoming and continuing AP English Literature and AP English Language students to the terminolog­y, skills, pace and content of the fullyear course. The camp will help students prepare for the Advanced Placement test this spring.

Five individual­s have been selected for induction in the North Hills School District Sports Hall of Fame.

Created in 1995, the hall honors individual­s who have distinguis­hed themselves in athletics during and/or beyond their years at North Hills High School or the former West View High School.

Inductees will be honored at the Sports Hall of Fame annual dinner on Sept. 13. They are (in alphabetic­al order):

• Dave Collins, class of 1981 — He was a three-year varsity soccer term starter and served as captain his senior year. Scoring 76 goals from 1978 to 1980, he is the leading career scorer in North Hills history.

He has been a youth soccer coach for eight years. Mr. Collins is an engineer with the Kurt J. Lesker Company.

• Kevin Donas, class of 1982 — He earned six varsity letters in football and basketball and was named All Conference in football.

Mr. Donas earned a football scholarshi­p to the University of Maryland, where he was an All-Conference linebacker.

He is director of operations for the Cogos Company.

• Marc Mitchell, class of 2001 — He earned seven varsity letters in track and field and basketball as well as set the record for the long jump.

He held the WPIAL record for the long jump for three consecutiv­e years and was named to the All-State Track & Field Team.

Mr. Mitchell is a systems administra­tor at Dexter Magnetic Technologi­es.

• Robert Weider, class of 1968 — He pitched for the baseball team during high school and following graduation he played on a semiprofes­sional baseball team.

Mr. Weider has served as a volunteer coach for community baseball teams and helps organize local baseball and softball recreation programs.

Mr. Weider continues to coach.

• Sara Zilles, class of 2002 — She played softball, soccer and basketball and helped lead the softball team to the 2000 WPIAL Championsh­ip.

Ms. Zilles earned eight varsity letters. She has been a member of the Akron Racers Pro Softball Team. Ms. Zilles is an account manager for Meyer Distributi­ng.
