Freeport wins at Ford City

Damon Smith scored on a 2-yard run in the fourth quarter to lift visiting Freeport to a 19-14 win against Ford City in an Allegheny Conference contest.

The teams entered the final quarter with the score tied at 7-7, but the Yellow Jackets (2-0, 2-0) went on top on a 14-yard pass from Brendan Lynch to Dustin Koedel. However, the extra point was no good. Ford City answered with a 1-yard touchdown run from Devan Willyard, and Tyler Blaniar converted the kick to give the Sabers the lead, 14-13.

Christophe­r Harp threw a 65-yard touchdown to Jamel King in the third quarter and then William Johnson ran in the two-point conversion to put the visiting Knights (1-1) ahead for good in their nonconfere­nce win against the Raiders (0-2).

Brett Brumbaugh threw for 253 yards and five touchdowns in the No. 2-ranked Lions’ (2-0, 2-0) rout of the host Golden Eagles (0-2, 0-2) in Century Conference action. Zach Challingsw­orth caught two of Brumbaugh’s touchdown throws and finished with five catches for 161 yards.
