North Catholic cruises past Springdale, 25-0

North Catholic shut down host Springdale, 25-0, Friday night in an early season Eastern Conference showdown.

A week after rushing 32 times for 265 yards, North Catholic sophomore running back P.J. Fulmore carried 21 times for 153 yards and two first-half scores to give the Trojans (2-0, 2-0) a 12-0 halftime lead. Sean Dugan rushed 19 times for 107 yards to pace the Dynamos (1-1, 1-1). Avella (2-0, 1-0) overcame a 130 third-quarter deficit to knock off host West Greene (1-1, 1-1) in TriCounty South.

Clairton 50, Carlynton 7

A week after squeaking out a 22-20 win, top-ranked Clairton returned to its dominant form in a rout at Carlynton (0-2, 0-2) in the Black Hills Conference. Tyler Boyd rushed for four touchdowns and returned a punt 55 yards for a score to lead the Bears (2-0, 2-0) to its WPIAL-record 49th consecutiv­e victory.

Imani Christian 57, Serra 0

Imani Christian outgained Serra Catholic (0-2, 0-2), 300-43, in a Black Hills Conference game. Ron Brown rushed for four touchdowns for the visiting Saints (1-1, 1-1).

Mapletown 40, Vincentian 20

Kevin Ridgley threw three firsthalf touchdown passes and Troy Haines rushed for 124 yards and two touchdowns to lead host Mapletown (1-1) to a non-conference win against first-year program Vincentian (0-2).

Fort Cherry 34, California 7

Koltan Kolbrys rushed for two touchdowns and caught another one as Fort Cherry (2-0, 2-0) broke open a 7-7 game to cruise to a Black Hills win at California (0-2, 0-2).

Jeff-Morgan 45, Bentworth 21

Tyler Bowman tossed three touchdown passes to lift the Rockets (20, 2-0) to a Tri-County South victory against host Bentworth (0-2, 0-2).

Rochester 35, Shenango 0

Dante Marcik returned the opening kickoff 94 yards for a touchdown and No. 2-ranked Rochester (2-0, 1-0) rolled to a win against visiting Shenango (0-2, 0-2) in the Big Seven Conference.

Northgate 47, West Shamokin 12

Cody Walter rushed for three scores, threw for one and returned a punt 65 yards for another to lead host Northgate (2-0, 2-0) to an Eastern Conference win against West Shamokin (0-2, 0-2), who has lost a WPIAL-record 45 consecutiv­e games.

Isiah Neely topped 3,000 career rushing yards with a 310-yard, five-touchdown effort against Western Beaver (0-2, 0-2) in a Big Seven Conference game at Avonworth. Neely accounted for five of six touchdowns for the Chargers (1-1, 1-1). Zach Perry led Western Beaver with 223 rushing yards.

Brendan Blair rushed for 148 yards and four touchdowns and caught a touchdown pass to power No. 3 Sto-Rox (2-0, 2-0) to a Big Seven Conference win against visiting South Side Beaver (0-2, 0-2).

Josh Mundell rushed for a touchdown and returned a kickoff 69 yards for another to help host Carmichael­s (1-1, 1-1) to a Tri-County South win against Frazier (1-1, 1-1).

The Scotties (2-0) blanked host Leechburg (1-1) in a non-conference game.
