Cardinals 5, Brewers 4: Allen Craig hit an RBI single in the 10th and host St. Louis beat Milwaukee to avoid a three-game sweep and hold its slim lead for the second NL wild-card spot.

Astros 5, Reds 1: Matt Dominguez hit a three-run homer, Tyler Greene added a solo shot and visiting Houston slowed Cincinnati’s run to the Central Division title.

Giants 4, Dodgers 0: Hunter Pence’s two-run double in the first was all host San Francisco needed against Los Angeles.

Marlins 8, Nationals 0: Ricky Nolasco (12-12) tossed a four-hitter to shut out host Washington for the second time in two weeks, and Giancarlo Stanton homered for the third consecutiv­e day to lead Miami.

Braves 3, Mets 2: Brian McCann homered and drove in the go-ahead run in the 10th to give visiting Atlanta a win against New York.

Padres 8, Diamondbac­ks 2: Chase Headley hit a grand slam to extend his career bests to 27 homers and an NL-high 102 RBIs in a victory against visiting Arizona.

Phillies 3, Rockies 2; Phillies 7, Rockies 4: John Mayberry Jr. got the winning single in the ninth when left fielder Carlos Gonzalez failed to hold on to a diving catch, leading host Philadelph­ia in the first game of a doublehead­er. The Phillies rallied from a 4-1 deficit in the second game.

American League

Yankees 13, Orioles 3: Slumping Curtis Granderson came off the bench to hit his 35th homer and drive in five runs, and visiting New York beat Baltimore to regain sole possession of first place in the East Division.

Rays 6, Rangers 0: B.J. Upton hit three home runs, James Shields (14-8) threw a two-hitter and Tampa Bay beat visiting Texas. Upton hit solo homers in the first, fourth and sixth innings.

Blue Jays 4, Red Sox 3: Omar Vizquel hit two sacrifice flies, including one in the ninth that lifted visiting Toronto past free-falling Boston.

Royals 2, White Sox 1: Mike Moustakas stroked a go-ahead single in the 10th inning to lift Kansas City past host Chicago. The Royals plated both their runs with two outs in the 10th off of Brett Myers (2-3), the seventh of eight White Sox pitchers in the game.

Angels 3, Tigers 2: Zack Greinke pitched seven strong innings of fivehit ball and Mike Trout hit a leadoff homer for the second game in a row as host Los Angeles beat slumping Detroit.

Athletics 4, Mariners 2: Jonny Gomes hit a three-run home run, Tommy Milone worked six strong innings and Oakland finished off a three-game sweep of host Seattle.

Twins 8, Indians 7: Justin Morneau hit his second homer of the game in the ninth to lift Minnesota past visiting Cleveland.
