THE COUNTDOWN

-

A quick look at the top performances Sunday from the game:

1 DÉJÀ VU AGAIN: Just like he did in the wild-card playoff loss in Denver, Ben Roethlisberger had a chance to bring the Steelers back to victory in the final two minutes. But, just like the previous time, when he fumbled on a sack, a turnover by Roethlisberger ended the opportunity. This time, though, it was 43-yard interception return for a touchdown by CB Tracy Porter, who stepped in front of a pass for Emmanuel Sanders near the left sideline with 1:58 remaining.

2

PEYTON’S PACE: After the Steelers took a 1914 lead, Manning picked apart the secondary by completing 6 of 7 passes for 57 yards and finishing off an 80-yard, 10-play drive with a 1-yard TD thrown to his former tight end with the Colts, Jacob Tamme. His 2-point conversion pass gave Denver a 22-19 lead.

3

JUST LIKE MIKE: Playing in his first game since ending his long holdout, WR Mike Wallace used his body to shield Porter and make a nice catch for a 3-yard touchdown that gave the Steelers a 19-14 lead early in the fourth quarter.

4

MILLER TIME: The Steelers had the benefit of two 15-yard personalfoul penalties on their second TD drive, but the big play was a 23-yard pass to tight end Heath Miller on third-and-18 that kept alive the 14-play, 80-yard march. Miller finished with four catches for 50 yards, including a 4-yard touchdown.

5

VINTAGE BEN: Roethlisberger made one of those plays for which he has become known when he eluded pressure by DE Derek Wolfe and DT Mitch Unrein and threw a perfect 27-yard pass to Antonio Brown to the Broncos 18 that led to the first touchdown.
