REDS PITCHER RECORDS NO-HITTER VS. PIRATES

Pitcher Homer Bailey gets a hug from teammate Brandon Phillips after throwing a no-hitter — the seventh in Major League Baseball this season and the first against the Pirates in 41 years — Friday night at PNC Park. Bailey’s accomplishment resulted in a 1-0 Pirates loss, clinching the club’s 20th consecutive nonwinning season. The Pirates must win their final five games, beginning tonight, in order to finish with an even (81-81) record and halt their skid of losing seasons. Story in Sports, Page D-1
