Djokovic, Nadal in final

Defending champion Novak Djokovic set up an enticing final against Rafael Nadal with a 6-3, 6-3 victory Sunday over Stanislas Wawrinka at the ATP World Tour Finals in London.

Nadal ended Roger Federer’s hopes of finishing a disappoint­ing season on a high note, defeating the six-time champion, 7-5, 6-3, in the other semifinal.

Unbeaten in his round-robin matches this week, secondseed­ed Djokovic extended his winning streak to 21 matches since losing in the U.S. Open final to Nadal. The two will play for the title today.

The world’s two highestran­ked players are unbeaten in London this week.

Figure skating

Two-time world champions Meryl Davis and Charlie White of the United States won the ice dance event at the NHK Trophy in Tokyo. Davis and White, who had a comfortabl­e nine-point lead after the short dance, finished with 186.65 points after the free dance, more than 26 points ahead over Italy’s Anna Cappellini and Luca Lanotte, who were second. Maia and Alex Shibutani of the United States were third with 157.58 points.

Charles Hamelin won the 1,000-meter race and helped Canada capture the relay in short track World Cup speedskati­ng in Turin, Italy. He finished the weekend with three gold medals. Hamelin, who won the 500 Saturday, edged Victor An of Russia by 0.021 seconds to keep his lead in the World Cup standings. Russia’s Vladimir Grigorev was third. In the relay, Canada took control six laps from the end to beat Russia and the Netherland­s. It moved to the top of the standings, above the United States, which finished fifth.

Sydney Leroux scored twice in the first half and the U.S. women’s team completed its sixth undefeated year with a 4-1 exhibition victory against Brazil at Florida Citrus Bowl in Orlando, Fla.

Voters turned down plans for Munich to bid for the 2022 Winter Olympics. Local media said early returns from a ballot give Olympic opponents a majority. Munich and the community of GarmischPa­rtenkirche­n, the planned site for Alpine events, were among the voting areas. Bavarian radio said opponents won a majority in all four communitie­s. Munich failed in its bid for the 2018 Winter Games. It had hoped to become the first venue to stage the Winter and Summer Games. It was the host of the 1972 Summer Olympics.

Hillary Kipkogei Yego led a Kenyan sweep of the top four places at the Athens Classic Marathon in Greece, and countrywom­an Nancy Rotich won the women’s race. Yego completed the hilly course in 2 hours, 13 minutes, 50 seconds — 42 seconds ahead of Dickson Kimeli. David Kipkorir Rutoh was third in 2:14:43. Rotich won the women’s race in 2:41:32, 24 seconds ahead of Ukraine’s Svitlana Stanko, who a year ago was the runnerup.
