OneJet launches new services
Adds Ind., Wis. flights from Pittsburgh
Two weeks after securing ticket and operations space at Pittsburgh International Airport, Indianapolis-based OneJet is ready to land.
The airline announced Friday that it will start service to Indianapolis and Milwaukee next month.
Service to Indianapolis International Airport will start May 11 and service to Milwaukee on May 4, with a daily flight four times a week, Monday through Thursday.
The airline will use sevenseater Hawker 400 aircraft for the flights. Tickets are available for purchase through select corporate and online retailers, including American Express Global Business Travel and Expedia.
Indianapolis and Milwaukee have been high on the list of cities targeted by Pittsburgh International for business travel.
“We’re excited about new opportunities for local business leaders and business growth that this new air service provides,” Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald said. “OneJet has stepped up to fill a void in our community and in similar communities across the Mid-Atlantic.”
Pittsburgh last had service to Indianapolis in January 2009 and to Milwaukee in January 2012.
The OneJet service is a first win for new county airport authority CEO Christina Cassotis, who arrived in January with the goal of bringing more flights to the airport, which is still struggling with the loss of the US Airways hub in 2004.
More than 27,000 people a year fly between Pittsburgh and Milwaukee, and more than 15,000 a year between Pittsburgh and Indianapolis, she said.

OneJet service is the latest addition at the Findlay airport. Sun Air, another regional carrier, currently is offering federally subsidized service to Jamestown, N.Y., and Bradford, Altoona, Franklin and Lancaster in Pennsylvania.
