Patient freedom is costly for the patients
Regarding the Aug. 23 article “At-Home IV Antibiotics Giving Patients Freedom”: The article boasts that giving patients antibiotics this way gives them more freedom and keeps them safer from other infections and toxicities. So I say to myself, “Self, what a good idea. Saves the patient and the insurance companies lots of money to avoid hospitalizations, right?”
To quote from the article, “Because patients are treated at home, the medication and supplies are not covered by insurance as they would be if the patients were treated at a facility.”
So you see who saves the money? The insurance companies, not the patient. SUSAN COX

our next president.
Meanwhile, your vetting of Mr. Trump is paltry at best, aside from the lurid headlines. He has absolutely no experience in government or public service. His only leadership experience is that of a CEO, and in that capacity he is famous for regularly stiffing contractors and daring them to sue him as well as for several major bankruptcies from which he has emerged unscathed. He is a bigot and a misogynist, and he encourages this behavior among his witless followers.
The responsibility of the Fourth Estate is to dig deeply into the secrets of such a prominent and mysterious public figure he comes into power and wreaks havoc on our nation. Hillary Clinton has been scrutinized more than any other presidential candidate in American history.
It’s time for the press to get busy with Mr. Trump. MATTHEW GALBRAITH
