Parents need to do something about shootings

-

I cannot believe Janet Pazzynski’s Sept 13 letter, “City Officials, Do Something About All the Shootings.” Don’t blame city council, the mayor, the police and anyone else whose name you want to throw on the table. Get your head out of the sand and put the blame where it belongs — in the home!

Parents need to flip their kids’ rooms, find the guns, the stash and any other contraband that is hidden by their darling children who will be arrested for their involvement in crime. Parents need to be accountable for their kids’ actions.

All the prayer services don’t work; victims’ pleas fall on deaf ears; and grown adults act as though they are clueless as to what their kids are doing and who they hang with.

Wake up and smell the coffee — our kids are killing our kids. JOE PONIEWAZ

Lincoln Place have passed out in that hot sun after five minutes. She looked like she was dressed for the winter.

Why does everyone have to have her medical records? Is she supposed to call a press conference if she gets a corn on her toe? I’m sure the argument would be that everyone has the right to know that a candidate who is healthy. Hello? That can change in a heartbeat. Franklin Delano Roosevelt was disabled and the press treated it like it was no big deal. Funny, he was able to do a great job even though he couldn’t walk. Donald Trump finally released a one-page summary of a recent physical examination, showing that he has high cholesterol and is obese. So, where are his tax returns?

This is so awful. This preelection fever-pitch bashing is horrible. It’s actually childish. People should focus on the issues, experience and the temperament of the candidates. Hillary doesn’t have to bash her opponent; he does a good enough job talking stupid and just opening his big mouth and criticizing her. She has more class in her little finger than he has in his head swept around with orange hair.

Why is it that people believe Mr. Trump’s lies? And does he always have to use offensive language? I was once told that you have to assume people are stupid. When I asked why, the answer was, “Because they are.” It looks like the shoe fits the mouth. KATHY KING Robinson

We welcome your opinion

While I do have some sympathy for those unfairly tarred by Hillary Clinton’s “basket of deplorables” comment, let’s first apply a basic truth from Logic 101: All Donald Trump supporters are not racist, xenophobic or white supremacists, etc. But racists, xenophobes and white supremacists are Donald Trump supporters.

Disprove this if you can, but if you stand with Mr. Trump, you stand with these people, and being splashed is the chance you take. I would be more disturbed that my candidate seems to embrace those views. Unless of course, you’re OK with that. DAVID JONES Canton Township
