Wilson says ankle won’t sideline him

-

Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson insists he’ll be ready to play against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday.

Wilson was a full participant in practice each of the past two days after spraining his ankle in the third quarter of last week’s game against the Miami Dolphins.

“I’ll be ready to roll,” Wilson said Thursday. “I’m excited about it.”

Wilson limped through the remainder of Seattle’s 1210 victory against the Dolphins after having the outside of his right heel stepped on by defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh.

The impact twisted Wilson’s ankle heavily and limited his ability to move throughout the remainder of the game.

“It definitely hurt. That’s for sure,” Wilson said. “My mentality was [I was] going to stay in the game and find a way for us to win this game.”

“Right now we’re expecting him to be full-go,” offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell said.

Wilson was initially in a walking boot after the game Sunday night.

However, by Monday morning he was able to leave the boot behind and progress in the rehab process.

Thursday’s game

Matt Forte scored three touchdowns and Ryan Fitzpatrick finally solved Rex Ryan’s defense, leading the visiting New York Jets to a 37-31 victory over the Buffalo Bills.

Forte’s 3-yard run put New York ahead, 27-24, with 2:12 left in the third quarter. He sealed the win by patiently waiting for a seam to open before scampering into the end zone from 12 yards to put New York up 37-24 with 4:02 left in the fourth quarter.

Broncos

Demaryius Thomas’ aching left hip only bothers him when he makes sharp cuts or takes a hit. In other words, just about everything the Denver receiver does on the field.

Still, Thomas feels optimistic about his playing status Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts. For a second day in a row, Thomas was limited in practice, taking the same number of reps.

Giants

Fullback/defensive lineman Nikita Whitlock was suspended without pay for New York’s next 10 games for violating the NFL policy on performance-enhancing substances.
