Plum board reinstates superintendent; report says evidence lacking to fire him

The Plum school board Tuesday night voted to reinstate Superintendent Timothy Glasspool, who has been suspended since May after a grand jury report harshly criticized how administrators handled the sex scandal that rocked the district.
The recommendation to reinstate Mr. Glasspool was made after a report by Levin Legal Group concluded there was no legal justification under the state public school code to fire him.
Michael Levin of the legal group said that if any reason could have been given to fire Mr. Glasspool under the school code, it would have been for neglect or incompetency, but the report found no evidence of either.
The school board voted, 4-3, to reinstate Mr. Glasspool as of Monday.
Board members Kevin Dowdell, Sal Colella, Rich Zucco and Jim Rogers voted to reinstate; Susan Caldwell, Vicky Roessler and Steve Schlauch voted against it; board members Michelle Stepnick and Michele Gallagher were absent.
The reinstatement enraged many Plum residents and parents at the board meeting.
