NTSB team to investigate bus crash
The National Transportation Safety Board is sending a team to California to investigate a tour bus crash Sunday that killed 13, including the driver, and injured 31.
Authorities say there’s no evidence the driver of the bus carrying people home from a casino hit the brakes before slamming into a tractor-trailer on Interstate 10 near Palm Springs.
The driver, Teodulo Elias Vides, owned the bus company, USA Holiday, and was its only driver, according to federal and state records. Mr. Vides, 59, had a valid commercial license and a clean record in recent years. Previously, he had been named in lawsuits stemming from three freeway collisions, though he was not the driver in any of them, according to court records.
