Forum on women’s health issues set
A free forum, “Her Journey: A Forum on Women’s Health,” will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the August Wilson Center for African American Culture, Downtown.
Moderated by Post-Gazette executive editor David Shribman, the forum will feature Dr. Susan Manzi, system chair of Allegheny Health Network Department of Medicine and co-founder/director of the Lupus Center of Excellence; Phyllis Sharps, a registered nurse who holds a Ph.D., the Elsie M. Lawler Endowed Chair, professor and associate dean for community programs at Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing; Marlene B. Goldman, doctor of science, director of clinical research in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center; and Dr. Peggy Chen, RAND natural scientist and pediatrician.
They will talk about reproductive health, menopause, aging, heart disease, infertility, breast cancer, parenting, partner violence, diet and diabetes, autoimmune diseases, wellness and understanding the role of gender on disease occurrence.
Free parking will be provided at the Smithfield/Liberty Garage. Enter at Ninth Street and Liberty, two short blocks from the August Wilson Center. Take ticket with you and get validated at the event check-in tables at the August Wilson Center. Present your validated ticket to the parking attendant to waive fee.
