Pittsburgh police early Saturday arrested a Homewood man wanted on two warrants in the city, including Pittsburgh Post-Gazette one for an attempted homicide in July.

Timothy Bazemore, 27, was taken into custody following a traffic stop about 2:40 a.m. near Idlewild Street and North Lang Avenue. in Homewood.

Authorities had been searching for him since July when he was charged in two separate incidents within a span of five days.

On July 25, according to a police affidavit, Bazemore and his sister, Nadia Bazemore, began arguing in their home in the 7100 block of Mount Vernon Street. The two went onto the front porch where the fight continued to escalate, police said.

Eventually, Timothy Bazemore grabbed his sister and attempted to throw her over a railing, the affidavit said. He then grabbed her by the neck and started choking her, according to police.

Family members pulled Timothy Bazemore off his sister, and tried to calm the situation. But he attacked her again, pushed her off the porch, and “kicked her several times in the side and several times in the side of her head while she attempted to block the strikes,” the affidavit said.

Timothy Bazemore was charged with aggravated assault and simple assault in the incident.

Then five days later on July 30, police identified Bazemore as the man who shot a 51-year-old man in the thigh after an argument between several people in the 1400 block of Murtland Avenue in Homewood.

He was charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault and other offenses.

On Saturday, when police initiated the traffic stop, officers said Bazemore gave them two false names and dates of birth. Bazemore was finally identified by intake staff at the Allegheny County Jail.

He remains in the county jail in lieu of $100,000 bail. He faces a preliminary hearing Jan. 19.

Bazemore, a convicted felon and member of the Race Street Crips gang, was charged with attempted homicide in another shooting in Homewood in June 2015 that left a man critically injured. Charges in that case were dismissed.

Most of Bazemore’s criminal convictions have resulted from drug charges.
