South Fayette rallies to win

Sam Kosmacki scored all of her team-leading 18 points in the second half as No. 3 South Fayette (9-3, 5-0) rallied to defeat host Chartiers Valley, 71-62, in a Class 5A Section 1 game.

“We dug ourselves a pretty big hole, but we dug out of it,” South Fayette coach Matt Bacco said. “We were down by 11 [points] at the half [31-20], so we went with a combinatio­n of personnel to get the match-up that we wanted.”

The Lions outscored the Colts, 24-8, in the third quarter to get back into the game.

“We showed great character in the second half, and we’re very proud of their effort,” Bacco said.

Lauren Wagner of Chartiers Valley (8-6, 3-2) led all scorers with 19 points.

Other top girls games

Mackenzie Amalia and Mady Aulbach scored 17 points apiece as No. 3 Blackhawk

High school highlights

(7-7, 6-0) beat host Beaver, 64-40, in Class 4A Section 2. Amalia scored 12 of her points in the third quarter. Sabrina DiGiacomo led the No. 4 Bobcats (9-3, 4-2) with 12. Beaver’s Bella Posset added 10 points, but she was injured and did not play in the second half.

Lauren Gilbert scored 13 points to lead Baldwin (7-6, 2-3) past visiting Bethel Park, 30-25, in a Class 6A Section 3 game.

Laryn Edwards scored 20 points as No. 2 Hampton (12-1, 6-0) beat visiting Mars, 43-36, in Class 5A Section 4. Bella Pelaia led the No. 5 Planets with 12 points.

Gillian Piccolino and Kristy Lippert scored 7 points apiece as No. 2 Keystone Oaks (11-2, 7-0) edged No. 5 South Park, 38-37, in Class 4A Section 3. Brittany Andrews led the Eagles (6-6, 5-2) with 13 points.

Alyssa Rayco’s with four seconds left lifted

Indiana (7-6, 4-2) to a 33-31 Class 5A Section 4 victory against visiting Armstrong (95, 2-4). Rayco had 13 points. Armstrong’s Kenzie Lashee led all scorers, though, with 14 points.

Kenzie Bushee scored 18 points to lead No. 4 Mt. Lebanon (12-3, 5-0) to a 5637 Class 6A Section 3 victory against Upper St. Clair. Kate Groninger led the visiting Panthers (1-12, 0-5) with 14 points.

Milestone

Chartiers-Houston’s Jala Walker scored 19 points to surpass 1,000 points in the Buccaneers’ 51-13 Class 2A Section 1 victory against Fort Cherry. Walker now has 1,015 points in her career.

Star of the night

Sto-Rox’s Lexi Frazee had 16 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists in the Vikings’ 67-30 Class 2A Section 2 victory against visiting Northgate.
