Mt. Lebanon rebounds from only Section 3 loss

Mt. Lebanon’s seniors put the Blue Devils in the driver’s seat for the Class 6A Section 3 title Thursday night with a 55-41 home victory against Peters Township (12-5, 7-2).

The No. 4 Blue Devils (155, 8-1) bounced back from their lone section loss of the season to beat the No. 5 Indians for the second time this season.

“It was hard coming off that tough loss to Bethel Park,” Mt. Lebanon coach Dori Oldaker said.

“We went back to work and played well tonight. We knew one game wasn’t going to make or break us.”

Mt. Lebanon outscored Peters Township in the second half, 38-22, and it was senior Kate Sramac who did most of the damage.

Sramac scored 13 of her 19 points in the second half and also finished with nine rebounds and eight steals.

“Kate probably had her best game of the season tonight,” Oldaker said. “She really stepped up. She was a gamer tonight. It was senior night so our kids were really amped up to play.” Cornell’s Daeja Quick jumps past a Quigley Catholic defender Thursday in a game at Cornell Senior High School in Coraopolis. Cornell won, 56-48. won 26 section games in a row dating to the 2014-15 season.

Maleyah Agurs hit a 3-pointer with 15 seconds left to lift Class 4A No. 2 Keystone Oaks (16-2, 12-0) to a 63-61 win at Elizabeth

(10-10, 7-5). Agurs finished with 12 points for the Golden Eagles, who secured at least a share of the section title. the season with a 46-33 victory at Clairton (7-13, 1-7) in Class 1A Section 3. Sophomore Olivia Bodine led the Warriors with 22 points.
