COLLIER
The township has purchased two new patrol vehicles that will be put into immediate service.
The new vehicles are a 2017 Police Interceptor sport utility vehicle and a 2017 Police F-150 truck, both of which will be used regularly and will replace two aging police cars.
“Having an up-to-date fleet helps us save on maintenance costs while providing excellent response to our residents,” Chief Craig Campbell said. “The addition of a truck also gives us the opportunity to better assist the community in a variety of unique scenarios and transport our police bicycles and motorcycles.”
SOUTH FAYETTE
Township manager Ryan Eggleston received the Credentialed Manager designation from the International City/County Management Association.
To be reviewed for the credential, an ICMA member must have considerable experience as a senior management executive in local government; have earned a degree, preferably in public administration or a related field; and demonstrated a commitment to high standards of integrity.
Mr. Eggleston has over 10 years of executive level local government experience, functioning as township manager in Oil City, Venango County, and Greenville, Mercer County, prior to coming to South Fayette.
CARNEGIE
Attorney John F. Morris, a Carnegie resident, has announced his candidacy for district judge for Carnegie, Crafton, Thornburg, Rossyln Farms, Ingram and Pennsbury Village.
Mr. Morris has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh and a law degree from Duquesne University and has been a practicing attorney for 26 years.
WASHINGTON COUNTY
State Rep. Brandon Neuman, D-North Strabane, has announced he is running for judge of Common Pleas Court.
Mr. Neuman said in a release that he believes his varied background and experience will help his service as a judge by bringing fresh ideas.
“As an attorney, I’ve focused on representing senior citizens who fell victim to negligent nursing homes and I’ve represented many other victims in civil court,” Mr. Neuman said. “And as a legislator, I championed legislation that ensures rape victims can seek justice, started programs that give opportunities to our next generation, focused on combating fraud, and I’ve supported law enforcement so they have the tools they need to keep us safe.”
Mr. Neuman has served in the House since 2011.
CORAOPOLIS
The borough will hold an African American Observance program in honor of former council member Shelley Jones on Wednesday prior to the council meeting, from 6:15 to 6:55 p.m. Ms. Jones died in 2010.
ELIZABETH TOWNSHIP
PennDOT announced that lane restrictions have begun on Scenery Drive (Route 48) in Elizabeth and Forward townships.
Single-lane, alternating traffic will occur between Round Hill Road and Weigles Hill Road weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. through Feb. 17 as crews perform utility work.
ROSTRAVER
PennDOT announced that Fellsburg Road (Route 3008) will be closed starting Monday between Route 3109 (Fells Church Road) and Route 51. The closure will continue through Feb. 24.
