Nova to buy cracker plant

Nova Chemicals said it reached a deal to acquire a majority stake in Williams Partners’ chemical cracker plant in Geismar, La., near the Gulf Coast, for $2.1 billion. The deal calls for Williams to supply ethane feedstock to the plant, which makes ethylene, a component of plastic materials. Nova expects to close on the purchase in the summer. Nova maintains executive offices in Moon and most of its facilities in Canada.
