South Hills’ best kept secret

A new community of townhomes and patio homes

- By: Beth Vassallo

A new maintenance-free community in Castle Shannon comprised of 19 luxurious homes has recently added one-level living patio homes to its list of offerings. Ellison Place, located at the end of May Street and off of Sixth Street is built on 3.95 acres of sloping land and boasts easy access to Downtown and the Pittsburgh International Airport. It’s also close to several bustling business districts, golf courses, parks and libraries.

There are just nine patio homes to be built – six of which have already been sold. Buyers can choose from two different models – the 1,488-square-foot Aspen model with a onecar garage has a base price of $239,500 and the Douglas model which is a 1,924-squarefoot one-level patio home with a two-car garage has a base price of $294,000.

Those seeking a townhome have three models to choose from in this community. With a starting price of $238,500, the Linden Model boasts 1,750 square feet. The Willow Model is 1,740 square feet and includes a first-floor entry garage with a full basement and starts at $259,500. The Mulberry Model is the largest of the three floor designs at 2,050 square feet. It, too, has a first floor entry garage with a full basement and is priced at $289,900.

All of the homes in Ellison Place feature high-quality brick exteriors, two-and-a-half baths and one- and two-car garages. Some of the free upgrade finishes include ninefoot first floor ceilings, Kohler plumbing fixtures, a tankless hot water heater, a concrete driveway, Pella insulated windows, a 10-by-14-foot deck or patio, an insulated front door with cut glass side lites, fiveand-a-half inch colonial base boards, threeand-a-half inch casing and trim on all windows and doors, and 16-by-7-foot Clopay garage doors. Each home is custom built, so buyers have the ability to choose their own interior finishes.

Ellison Place’s developer, James Dinert, president of Senterra Building & Development, Inc., has been developing and building custom multi-family and single-family homes in the Pittsburgh area for more than 35 years. His love for creating new communities is reflected in each one he starts. Mr. Dinert finds it satisfying to search for a desirable location, acquire the land, visualize the future neighborhood and watch it become a reality from start to finish. To ensure a satisfying home buying experience, Senterra uses only high quality products, employs skilled craftsmen and offers its customers a followup program to assist with interior design and financing.

The Dinert organization is a hands-on, close knit group. In addition to its long-time employees and support group, Mr. Dinert’s wife, Laura, heads up the architectural review, provides interior design of model homes, and does cost accounting in support of the organization. The couple’s daughter, Katherine, plays a critical role in the sales team and handles all of the open houses and Facebook advertising. Some of the nearby communities built by James Dinert include Laurelwood, Highpointe and Colony Pointe. Ellison Place, like all of those communities, offers a private, very desirable location and convenience to major transportation and shopping.
