Record Store Day turns 10 on Saturday

Saturday is the tin anniversary of a vinyl holiday.

Record Store Day returns for its 10th year with a new batch of coveted releases, several of which honor classic artists we lost last year. Among the 2017 treasures: Prince: “Little Red Corvette” picture disc and 12-inch maxi-singles.

David Bowie: “Cracked Actor” (Live, Los Angeles, ’74) and “BOWPROMO,” a reproduction of one of his earliest demo promos.

Leonard Cohen: “Like A Drunk In A Midnight Choir — Record Store Day Celebrates the Music of Leonard Cohen,” a tribute album featuring Joseph Arthur, Matt Costa, Leanna Skoda, Glen Hansard and others.

Leon Russell: Reissue of “Guitar Blues.”

Sharon Jones: A funk gospel 7-inch.

The Ramones: “’76-’79 Singles Box,” authentically reproduced with Sire labels, picture covers where applicable.

Sting: “Live at the Bataclan,” chronicling the night music returned to the Paris nightclub, one year after the terrorist attack.

Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit: “Welcome to 1979,” EP of live covers of The Rolling Stones, John Prine and Bruce Springsteen.

Elton John: Live album “1711-70”

Johnny Cash: “The Johnny Cash Children’s Album”

David Crosby & the Lighthouse: Four songs performed on NPR's World Café.

The Clash: Crooked Beat’s “Recutting The Crap, Vol 1,” a collector’s delight of various artists’ versions of songs from The Clash.

Townes Van Zandt: “Live at Austin City Limits” session from 1976.

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band: The Hammersmith Odeon London ’75 show (the band’s first concert outside the U.S.).

Drive-By Truckers: Electric Lady Sessions live in-studio 12inch pressed on clear vinyl with a gold metallic ink jacket.

Dave’s Music Mine, 1210 E. Carson St., South Side: Opening at 8 a.m. with RSD releases, gift bags, prize wheel, giveaways, juice and pastries (for early birds). There also will be a Discount Day After on leftover items on Sunday.

The Attic, 513 Grant St., Millvale: Open at 8 a.m. RSD releases and sales on new and used records.

Juke Records, 4526 Liberty Ave., Bloomfield: Juke, which evolved from Jim’s Records, Paul’s CDs and Sound Cat Records, is now run by the storefront’s fourth owner, Jeff Gallagher. This will be the first RSD without Sound Cat owner and indie-rocker Karl Hendrix, who died in January. Juke will open at 9 a.m. with RSD releases.
