An Evening of Birthday Cheer
The Place: PNC Park, on the North Shore, Thursday night
The Purpose: An Evening of Birthday Cheer, presented by Beverly’s Birthdays, raised funds to provide birthday celebrations for homeless children. “We recognize nine birthdays every single day,” said Megs Yunn, co-director of Beverly’s Birthdays with Josh Whiteside. “As of tonight we will have raised $1 million since we began five years ago.” They work with 57 agencies and 54 schools to identify children who could use their services.
The Party: More than 420 guests enjoyed ballpark food, drinks, games and an ample silent auction as they mingled on the Club Level. Some lined up for personalized air-brushed pennants while others showed off their artistic side at the Paint Monkey station. “We like it to be just a party — no program — just party,” said Mr. Whiteside.
The People: The Pirates’ Frank Coonelly and his wife, Debbie, were the honorary chairs. Racing Pirates Pierogies, the Pirate Parrot and a human statue added to the carnival atmosphere. Among those enjoying the birthday bash were Beverly’s Birthdays president Rob Phillips with Brandi, Gregg and Yu-Ling Behr, Mike Novak, Abby Goldstein, Lorraine and Sam Caruso, Aja Jones and Jonathan Donati, Toni and Jake Zoller, Susan Krol and Jeff Leonard with Cindy Shoemaker.
