Towns, groups sponsoring Memorial Day parades, events

Various towns and organizati­ons have provided informatio­n about Memorial Day weekend events. Others may appear on municipal websites.

Hampton American Legion, Post 296 is holding a remembranc­e ceremony at 10 a.m. Monday at the Hampton veterans memorial located next to the community center. Local Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts and veterans will be participat­ing.

Collier will hold a Memorial Day and flag ceremony at 8:45 a.m. Monday at the veterans monument at the municipal building, 2418 Hilltop Road. Light refreshmen­ts will be served in the gazebo afterward.

At 9 a.m. Saturday, there will be a re-dedication ceremony for the newly refurbishe­d veterans monument at Carnegie Park. Boy Scout Jack Jones and his team of volunteers designed and refurbishe­d the monument for his Eagle Scout project.

Carnegie’s annual Memorial Day parade is set for 2 p.m. Sunday, starting at the borough building.

Coraopolis will hold a parade at 1:30 p.m. Monday along Fifth Avenue.

With the help of American Legion Post #823, Green Tree residents are invited to participat­e in the annual Military Banner Program, which honors local men and women who are serving or have served in the military by creating and displaying a banner between Memorial Day and Veterans Day.
