Suspect gives details of fatal beating, robbery of Somali cab driver

In a matter-of-fact tone that belied the horror of the words being spoken, 20-year-old Hosea Moore of Beltzhoove­r testified Friday how he and three friends punched, beat, and kicked to death a Somali cab driver in an effort to rob of him of his money and any other valuables he might have had with him the night of Feb. 21.

It was not only a homicide notable for its particular brutality; it also was purposeles­s. Ramadhan Mohamed, 31, of Northview Heights, had nothing of value with him that night.

Mr. Moore, one of four men charged in the death of the Somali cab driver, waived his preliminar­y hearing and testified against his friends in a two-hour proceeding that ended with all four defendants heading to trial.

Though Mr. Moore didn't acknowledg­e participat­ing in the kicking of Mr. Mohamed, he admitted being the first person to assault Mr. Mohamed on Feb. 21. He died on Feb. 24.

Autopsy evidence indicated that Mr. Mohamed died of injuries to his head, neck, trunk and extremitie­s.

Mr. Moore, who had worked an 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. shift at a fast food restaurant, testified how he and his friends, later that evening, decided to lure someone to their neighborho­od so the person could be robbed.

A fugitive task force Thursday arrested a suspect in a Butler homicide in March, taking him into custody without incident in Richmond, Va.

David “Dae Dae” Franklin, 19, of Brackenrid­ge is charged with homicide and discharge of a firearm into an occupied structure in connection with the March 17 shooting of Rashaan Khalil Adams, 20, of Philadelph­ia.

The U.S. Marshals Service Western Pennsylvan­ia Fugitive Task Force announced the arrest Friday.
