Pet events: Adoption fair, bridge dog walk coming up

-

Adoptable dogs and cats from many rescues and shelters will be there, along with booths for pet products and services, silent auctions and food.

As always, the event is put on by Christ United Methodist Church in Bethel Park, and volunteers from the church pet ministry.

Dogs at work

Since 1999, Pet Sitters International has been organizing Take Your Pets to Work Day to celebrate the companionship provided by dogs and “to promote their adoption.”

This year, it is scheduled for Friday. Go to www.petsit.com for further information. A tool kit has tips for doing this in your office — and convincing the boss this is a good idea.

Bridge dog walk

Animal Friends invites dogs and their people to “don your black and gold” and come “Dahntahn” for Animal Friends’ Bark N’at next Saturday on the Roberto Clemente Bridge.

Registration starts at 6 p.m., live music by This That and the Other Thing at 6:30 p.m., a 1-mile walk at 7 p.m. and the costume parade at 8 p.m. with an emphasis on Pittsburgh-themed regalia. Also look for the vendor village and the food truck alley. “Lead Yinzer” is Jim Krenn. The annual event used to be Bark in the Park.

You can register in advance online www.thinkingoutsidethecage. or at the event. General admission is $15, which includes a “swag bag.” Pay $25 for admission and entry in the walk, which gets you a T-shirt. The costume parade is $5 per dog. at
