Attorney General’s office charges 6 tied to drug ring

The state Attorney General’s office has accused six Allegheny County men with being part of a ring selling carfentanil — a drug 10,000 times more potent than morphine.
A statewide investigating grand juryreturned a sealed presentment in the case Oct. 16. On Thursday, the AG’s office announced charges of conspiracy and possession with intent to deliver drugs against all sixdefendants:
• Deondray Beasley, 29, of Homestead, who investigators said was “the Boss.”
• Derek Williams, 22, of West Virginia Avenue, Munhall.
• Dorrean Watson, 30, of Beaver Avenue, Marshall-Shadeland.
• James Wells, 29, of Ridge Avenue, North Braddock.
• Patrick Sanders, 27, of Hillview Street, Duquesne.
• Rand Wolford, 29, of Talbot Avenue, Braddock.
Beasley, Wells, Williams and Watson also are charged with being involved in corrupt organizations.
According to the AG’s office, the investigationcentered on Munhall, Braddock Heights, North Braddock and Braddock between September2016 and August.
It began after detectives allegedly saw a drug deal between Beasley and a buyer. Investigators stopped the car the buyer was in and found 23 bags of carfentanil and 27 bags of heroin mixed with fentanyl. The investigation grew into a collaboration between AG investigators and Allegheny County Police.
