‘This Is Us’ is among Golden Globes nominees

- By Sharon Eberson

NBC’s partially Pittsburgh-set “This Is Us” garnered three Golden Globe nominations Monday for best TV drama series, best TV drama actor (Sterling K. Brown, who plays Randall) and best supporting TV actress (Chrissy Metz, who plays Kate).

The nominees for the 75th annual Golden Globe Awards in movies and television were announced Monday morning. Alfre Woodard, Garrett Hedlund, Kristen Bell and Sharon Stone read the nominations during a live-streamed event at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles. The ceremony to present winners with their awards from the Hollywood Foreign Press will be telecast Jan. 7 on NBC, with Seth Meyers as host.

“This Is Us” had the same number of nominations a year ago, including for drama series and two in the supporting actress category for Ms. Metz and Mandy Moore. A year ago, Mr. Brown was nominated for his role as Christopher Darden in FX’s “The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story” but not for his part in “This Is Us.” “This Is Us” did not win any of the awards it was nominated for at the January 2017 ceremony.

Christopher Plummer, whose role as tycoon J. Paul Getty was shot in a matter of days, earned a supporting actor nod for the movie “All the Money in the World.” He jumped into the film to replace Kevin Spacey, who was dropped amid sexual misconduct allegations.

Guillermo del Toro’s “The Shape of Water,” a fantastical love story inspired by the horror classic “The Creature From the Black Lagoon,” received a leadillboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri,” with

six each.

Unlike the Academy Awards, the Golden Globes separate best movie and television series into two categories, dramas and comedies or musicals. “Golden Globes 75th Anniversary Special,” featuring highlights from 75 years of ceremonies, airs on NBC at 9 p.m. Wednesday.

Here are highlights of the Golden Globe nominations. For a full list, visit www.goldenglobes.com.
