Donnie Iris 75th birthday celebration expands to 2 nights

It turns out that one night isn’t enough to celebratethe 75th birthday of Donnie Iris.
With the Feb. 3 Birthday Bash at the Palace Theatre in Greensburg selling out in one week, Live Nation has added an encore performance Feb. 10 during which the Ellwood City legend and the band will perform his 1981 “King Cool” album from front to back.
Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday via TicketMaster.com and the Palace Theatre box office. An exclusive Facebook presale will be available for Donnie Iris followers from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday. Go to www.donnieiris.com.
Also, fans can enter for a chance to win tickets on the Donnie Iris and The Cruisers Facebook page. While there, they can view a video from Iris and share photos and memories from seeing him perform over the last 50 years.
If you want to get up close and personal, Iris and guitarist Mark Avsec will hold a signing for “The Story of Donnie Iris and The Cruisers,” a new book written by D.X. Ferris, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Jergel’s Rhythm Grille in Marshall.
At 7 p.m., the musicians and author will be joined on stage by comedian and former WDVE Morning Show host Jim Krenn for a discussion of the biography, which includes dozens of classic photos and numerous interviews about the band that gave us “Ah!
