‘In Between the Middle’
Where: The Brew House, 711 S. 21st St., South Side. When: Opening reception 6-8 p.m. Friday. At 7:30 p.m., Tim Flaherty will speak on “Betweeness: The Mathematics of Being Between.” He is an associate professor in the Department of Mathematical Sciences, Carnegie Mellon University, and an ultra-marathon runner who just completed a 100-mile race. The exhibition continues through Feb. 23. Admission: Free. Hours: 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday, 11 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Saturday, and by appointment. Events: 7 p.m. Feb. 1, “Betwixt & Between,” a night of poetry and spoken word featuring spoken word artist Corey Carrington (Grits Capone); 6 p.m. Feb. 16, conversation with collective artists, who will share stories about their work, lives and experiences ($5 suggested donation); 6 p.m. Feb. 23, closing reception including performances by Pittsburgh-based Puerto Rican Bomba music dance ensamble Calle Bomba and The Beautiful Ugly.
