Authorities ID man killed in South Side crash
A man who died Monday after his vehicle crashed into a utility pole on the South Side was identified Wednesday as Ryan C. Williams.
The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office said Mr. Williams, 23, of Pittsburgh was pronounced dead at the scene on West Carson Street at 1:34 a.m.
The crash occurred around 1:19 a.m. when Mr. Williams’ vehicle, which was headed along West Carson toward the West End Circle, hit a utility pole near the intersection and the vehicle burst into flames.
Mr. Williams was the lone passenger in the vehicle. No other vehicles were involved. Pittsburgh police are investigating.
Police arrest suspected rapist in Hill District
Pittsburgh police said they caught a rapist in the act in the Hill District early Wednesday morning and arrested him after a short chase.
Police charged Anthony Lance Jr., 22, with rape, sexual assault, aggravated assault and robbery.
Officers from the Zone 2 station in the Hill District responded to the 800 block of Memory Lane in the Bedford Dwellings public housing complex around 1:42 a.m. and “observed a rape in progress,” police said in a news release.
Police chased Mr. Lance and apprehended him nearby. He is in the Allegheny County Jail awaiting arraignment.
