Artist celebrates ‘People at Work’ in Pittsburgh

“People at Work — Primarily Pittsburgh” is photographer Ruth Hendricks’ exploration of the many ways people make a living.
The exhibition at Panza Gallery in Millvale includes more than 100 images accompanied by brief descriptions of the occupations depicted, including a tree expert, lawyer, butcher, master framer, restaurant owner and vintage car restorer.
A free public closing reception with the artist will be held from 6-9 p.m. Saturday at the gallery, 115 Sedgwick St., Millvale (15209).
Ms. Hendricks retired after teaching art in Pittsburgh Public Schools for 26 years, the last three teaching photography at Carrick High School. She maintains a richly illustrated blog.

Eric Crosby wins fellowship
Eric Crosby, the Richard Armstrong curator of modern and contemporary art at Carnegie Museum of Art, has been awarded a 2018 Spring Curatorial Fellowship by The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts.
The $50,000 fellowship will support the development of an exhibition, “Working Thought,” that will be presented in 2020 at the museum. Mr. Crosby will travel the United States to select work for the multigenerational exhibition of 30 artists that will address issues of economic inequality in America. This exhibition will offer opportunity for public discussion of local inequities contextualized within a national picture of labor today.
