Kentucky DE out due to melanoma
O-line coach also has medical issues
Kentucky coach Mark Stoops opened his media day with emotional news Friday, announcing that defensive end Joshua Paschal has malignant melanoma.
Skin lesions on Paschal’s foot were removed recently and further testing on the lesions revealed the melanoma. He had a procedure done July 25 and is awaiting the results.
Stoops also announced that offensive line coach John Schlarman is dealing with an unspecified health issue. Schlarman will continue coaching, but also is undergoing testing.

Freshman running back Zamir White, who suffered a torn ACL his senior season at Scotland High in Laurinburg, N.C., was cleared for practice, coach Kirby Smart said Friday.
White was the top-rated running back and 15th overall prospect in ESPN’s 2018 recruiting rankings.

Wide receiver Jaylen Smith had an emergency appendectomy Friday morning and will be out indefinitely, according to a release from the school. Smith, a preseason All-ACC receiver, was the team’s top target in 2017, catching 60 passes for 980 yards and seven touchdowns.
After feeling ill Thursday night, Smith awoke Friday and experienced severe pain before being taken to the hospital, where the emergency surgery was performed.
LSU
Coach Ed Orgeron said guard Ed Ingram was suspended indefinitely for an unspecified violation of team rules.
The suspension of the 6foot-4, 314-pound Ingram was announced Friday. The decision left the Tigers with three returning starters on the offensive line. Orgeron said junior college transfer Damien Lewis will be the first-team right guard when practice begins Saturday.
The 6-3, 326-pound Lewis was an early enrollee in January out of Northwest Mississippi Junior College and had been working as the second-team left guard behind Garrett Brumfield.
Ingram started 12 games as a true freshman at right guard last season after Maea Teuhema left the team.
North Carolina State
Coach Dave Doeren says Southern California transfer tight end Cary Angeline will be eligible to play after sitting out the first three games. Angeline redshirted in 2016, then left the Trojans roughly a month into the 2017 season. The school sought a waiver that would have reduced his absence to two games but it apparently was rejected by the NCAA.
Vanderbilt
Coach Derek Mason said backup quarterback Deuce Wallace was suspended this season over an unspecified violation of school policy.
