You probably are known as the cookie queen/king among your family and friends for your contributions to different cookie tables over the years.

Now you have a chance of being crowned the best in Pittsburgh if you win the Cookie Table Recipe Contest by Rivers Casino. So pull out that favorite crowd-pleaser recipe, whether it was passed down by your great-grandmother, or is your own creation or something you found ona website or in a magazine.

The wedding services team at the casino is holding its citywide contest in the fall, and the deadline for the entries is midnight Aug. 31. Twenty-four finalists will be selected around the last week of September to bake their cookies for a taste test to be held on Oct. 6 at Rivers Casino, North Shore.

Cookies will be judged for their appearance, quality of ingredients, clarity of instructions, creativity and cookie table wow factor by four experts, who are from Manchester Bidwell Corporation, the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh Technical College and Rivers Casino. There are no restrictions as to what type of cookie it should be, and so it can be chewy or crisp, oldfashioned or nouvelle, a cutout or drop, a bar or square and nutty or fruity.

The 12 winners will be announced in mid-October and their recipes will be featured as a month in the 2019 Rivers Casino Cookie Table calendar. They also will receive $100 in free slot play, 10 calendars, brunch for two at the Grand View Buffet and additional prizes.

Each contestant can enter only once. Entries must be made at RiversCookieTable. and include ingredients used, step-by-step directions, reasons why the cookie is special, and a photo of the baker and cookie.

This is the second year Rivers Casino is holding the cookie table contest; there were nearly 200 entries last year.
