Keystone Oaks runs past Seton LaSalle

Blackhawk’s defense key to road victory against Central Valley

Michael Daure scored five touchdowns to lead Keystone Oaks to a 56-19 victory over Seton LaSalle in a non-conference game Friday night at Dormont Stadium. The Golden Eagles are ranked No. 3 in WPIAL Class 3A.

Daure rushed for 249 yards on 26 carries and scored on runs of 24, 3, 61 and 44 yards. He also returned a punt 63 yards for a touchdown. Logan Shrubb scored twice for the Golden Eagles on runs of 11 and 43 yards. Shrubb also connected with C.J. Morrow on a 48-yard pass.

Seton LaSalle’s Max Schipani completed 9 of 24 passes for 127 yards and connected with James Yanders on a 49yard touchdown pass. The Rebels also scored on an 88-yard kickoff return by Gabe Finale and a 21-yard pass from Joey Ranft to Alex Jones.

More Class 3A

North Catholic 49, Albert Gallatin

12: Zack Rocco threw for two touchdowns and ran for another, as the No. 2-ranked Trojans opened with a convincing road victory over the Colonials. Rocco completed 8 of 14 passes for 112 yards and connected with Nikhai Hill Green and Rashard Allen on touchdown passes. He also scored on a 5-yard run. Cameron Branch led the Trojans in rushing with 117 yards on 12 carries. He also scored twice on a runs of 5 and 42 yards.

Beaver Falls 41, Ellwood City 0: Balyn Bricker and Tyler Cain scored on returns, as the Tigers blanked the visiting Wolverines. Bricker scored on a 71-yard punt return, while Cain scored on a 16-yard intercepti­on return. Also scoring touchdowns for Beaver Falls were Josh Hough, Amen Cottril, Tyler Jones and Shileak Livingston. Hough scored on a 2-yard run, Cottril on a 58-yard run, Jones on a 10-yard run and Livingston on a 1-yard run. Beaver Falls accumulate­d 231 yards in total offense, but turned the ball over three times. Ellwood City had only 55 yards in total offense.

Waynesburg 47, Jefferson-Morgan 8: Nate Stephenson scored three touchdowns to lead the Raiders to a convincing win against the visiting Rockets. Stephenson rushed for 155 yards on 16 carries and scored on runs of 2, 4 and 26 yards. Luke Robinson scored twice for Waynesburg on runs of 3 and 18 yards. Waynesburg had 356 yards in total offense, all on the ground. Jefferson-Morgan accumulate­d only 88 yards in total offense. The Rockets scored their only points on a 10-yard run by Austin Foreman.

Derry 45, Latrobe 15: The Trojans, a Class 3A team, opened the season with an impressive road victory against the Wildcats, who compete in Class 5A.

Class 4A

Blackhawk 21, Central Valley 7: Josh Butcher rushed for 109 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries to lead the Cougars to a road victory against the Warriors. Butcher opened the scoring for Blackhawk with a 2yard run. Mar’Ques Watson-Trent and Chance Liptak also scored on short runs. Central Valley’s only touchdown came on an 8-yard run by Ameer Dudley.

Beaver 26, Brashear 8: Gino Mavero opened the game with a 52-yard kickoff return for a touchdown as the Bobcats posted a victory against the visiting Bulls. Mavero also scored on a 3-yard run. Beaver also scored on a 1-yard run by Brady Hansen and a 23-yard field goal by Beckett Connelly. Brashear scored its only points in the fourth quarter on a 57-yard pass to Dashawn Brown from Sincere Kimbrough.
