Committee favors Duke (for now)

Five weeks from Selection Sunday, the NCAA selection committee announced its inseason top 16 overall seeds. The most noteworthy slotting: If the tournament began today, Duke — No. 2 in the polls — would be the No. 1 overall seed and top-ranked Tennessee would be the second overall seed. Committee chairman called the separation of the two “the slightest of margins,” with Duke’s strength of schedule providing the difference. The top four seeds in each region would be:
