Police checking allegations involving school employee

County Police have opened an investigation of allegations involving a staff member at Young Scholars of Western PA Charter School, county spokeswoman Amie Downs said Friday.

She said she could not provide any additional information.

“We are aware of one case being actively investigated by Child Protective Services and the Allegheny County Police involving an employee of the School,” said an email from the school. “We have followed the steps suggested by the appropriate agencies.

“The safety of students and staff at Young Scholars continues to be a top priority and the students have remained safe throughout this time.”

Other calls to the principal’s office and business office were not returned.
