OLD BUILDING, NEW USE
Deja Newby, 14, left, and her twin sister, Denaja, attend the grand opening Monday of the Tube City Center for Business and Innovation in the former Daily News building in McKeesport. On the wall are photos from the Media Oasis summer 2018 pilot program in which students from McKeesport YouthCAST were mentored by journalism professionals as they reported on and photographed their community. Several entities now share the repurposed building, including the District Attorney Mon Valley Support Center, Tube City Community Media, the Mon Valley Independent, and Flashover Fire Apparatus & Equipment.
