Duff’s building coming down
The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust is gearing up to demolish the former Duff’s Business Institute building at Ninth Street and Fort Duquesne Boulevard, Downtown, the first step toward the construction of a new residential high-rise at the site. The trust hopes to start the demolition, estimated to cost $1.2 million, in March and have it completed by the fall. The goal is to construct the residential building overlooking the Allegheny River “as soon as practical,” said Kevin McMahon, trust president and CEO. The trust was set to brief the city planning commission on the demolition Tuesday.
