Meet Benjamin the Brave

Ben & friends at Home Show

Benjamin the Brave, the three-legged Labrador retriever puppy featured in the Feb. 23 Pet Tales column, will be at the Pittsburgh Home & Garden Show at 2 p.m. Sunday.

I will join Ben along with Janet Nauer of Heidelberg, who is fostering him, and other volunteers with Lake Erie Labrador Retriever Rescue, the group that rescued him.

Look for Ben on the second level of the David L. Lawrence Convention Center, near the Children’s Village and the pop-up version of Randyland.

Also of interest for animal lovers will be appearances by Going Home Greyhounds and Humane Animal Rescue.

Cat video fest

What could be cuter or funnier than 70-80 minutes of “cute and crazy” cat videos culled from thousands of hours of submissions. This is what you can see at Cat Video Fest 2019 at Row House Cinema in Lawrenceville starting March 10, with screenings at noon and 6 p.m.

The cat fest will continue with multiple showings on March 12, 13, 15, 16, 17, 19 and 21. Go to rowhousecinema.com for times and to order tickets, which are $8 for afternoon shows and $10 in the evenings.

Go to www.catvideofest.com to see stills of what you will see in the film, which is shown all over the United States, parts of Canada and now expanding to other countries. A portion of ticket sales will be donated to local organizations that help cats in need.

Bingo for Paws

Play bingo to help Paws Across Pittsburgh help homeless pets.

Bingo for Paws is March 15 at 6 p.m. at The Manchester Room, 414 Brinton Ave., Trafford (15085).

A $25 ticket gets you 20 bingo games. Extra cards will be sold throughout the event. Auctions, daubers, Paws merchandise, a 50/50 raffle and beverages also will be available.
