2 nominated for U.S. District Court

President Donald Trump on Friday announced that he will nominate two people to serve as federal judges for the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvan­ia.

The president will nominate Robert J. Colville, an Allegheny County Common Pleas judge, and Stephanie L. Haines, an assistant U.S. attorney, to vacancies on the court. There are currently four vacancies in the Western District of Pennsylvan­ia.

Judge Colville presides over a civil litigation calendar, including complex commercial litigation matters.

Before becoming a judge, he practiced law at Pietragall­o, Bosick & Gordon, handling all manner of civil litigation, including product liability and insurance defense cases. Judge Colville clerked for Pennsylvan­ia Supreme Court Justice Ralph J. Cappy after he earned a law degree at Duquesne University.

Ms. Haines is the sole prosecutor in the Johnstown office of the U.S. attorney’s office in the Western District of Pennsylvan­ia and handles a wide variety of federal criminal matters.

She previously served as an assistant U.S. attorney in the Southern District of West Virginia. Before joining the Justice Department, she was a member of the Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps, serving both as a prosecutor and as a defense appellate specialist. She received her law degree from Ohio Northern University.

The U.S. Senate must confirm their nomination­s.
